9 Best Ideas For Kids when they’re bored

Do you have an upcoming celebration!? Your completely stumped about what to do because you can’t leave the house? Your family is expecting you to come up with something and your stumped. I am here to save you…I hope… Here’s a few simple ideas to celebrate indoors!

1. Put on a performance

Do you want to be in a fit of giggles on your special day? Well, get your next generation to act like an adult in the house! Trust me on this one. Don’t forget to get some popcorn, some fizzy drinks and some sweets and challenge each other to a performance. Or you can work together to retell a hilarious version of Goldilocks and the three bears? Or make up your own!


2. Indoor scavenger hunt

Maybe hide their presents around the house. Set a timer and GO! How many presents can they find? You can get the rest out afterward. I assure you they will love it. I have a post about where to buy some affordable presents here.


3. Hide and Seek

We underestimate the power of hide and seek in the house. It’s the most thrilling feeling, when the seeker walks past you. Especially, when you know the building so well -because you practically live there!


4. Zoom Party

Yes, we have seen celebrities get together and continue their careers online but what about family? Get on zoom or ”House party” and celebrate together. Play some games like ”charades” or Simon say or even ”Balloon pop” at the end of the day.

Now, hang some doughnuts on a string from a high place, who can eat it the fastest? NO HANDS! You can also buy some children Arts and crafts supplies at Bargain Max.


5. Decorate!

Make sure you decorate your house. Early in the morning before anyone wakes up. Get those room done up looking real good. It will be a wonderful surprise for your little ones. 6. Build a Fort

Work together with your little ones to build a special ”Fort” and turn the whole room into a fort! Don’t jump in the Lava! Clean up the mess tomorrow…


7. Bake something new!

Bake something you’ve never made before, like make chocolate? It will take a good part of the day with lots of laughs.


8. Play a board game!

Come on! Blow the dust off that Monopoly board and create some memories! Or buy a new one from here.


Here are a few quick fire activities for those with a garden:

  • Barbeque (Classic)
  • Water Fight!
  • Family egg and spoon races
  • Mud kitchen (You pretend to cook food with mud – really young children like this!)
  • A makeshift camp – with marshmallows!
  • Bubbles, Bubbles and more bubbles
  • Treasure hunt
